Andrew Fuller (1754–1815) was an English Baptist pastor and theologian known for his clear, earnest preaching and his deep concern for the spiritual condition of the soul. A village pastor in Kettering for most of his ministry, Fuller wrote on subjects like false assurance, backsliding, repentance, and the true nature of saving faith. His book *The Backslider* is one of many works in which he warns against a lifeless profession of Christianity and calls sinners and drifting believers to return to Christ with a broken heart and a real, working faith. He was also a leading supporter of early missionary work, helping to form what became the Baptist Missionary Society, which sent William Carey to India. He died in 1815, remembered both for his doctrine and for his pastoral burden that men and women not merely hear the gospel, but truly come to Christ.
