Jerry McAuley (1839–1884) was a transformed man, a former river thief and convict who became one of New York City’s most impactful evangelists. Known for his ministry among society’s outcasts, he dedicated his life to reaching those lost on Water Street, an area infamous for crime and poverty. Through God’s grace, he turned his past struggles into a powerful testimony, founding the Water Street Mission to help others find hope and redemption.
