Maltbie Davenport Babcock was an American Presbyterian minister, devotional writer, poet, and hymn writer. He is best remembered as the author of the hymn “This Is My Father’s World.” He served churches in Lockport, New York; Baltimore, Maryland; and New York City, and was known for his warm preaching, spiritual earnestness, musical gifts, and love of nature.
