Samuel Marinus Zwemer (1867–1952), often called the “Apostle to Islam,” was an American missionary, author, and scholar devoted to bringing the gospel to the Muslim world. He spent many years serving in Arabia and Egypt, helped establish the Arabian Mission, and became a leading voice in encouraging Christian missions among Muslims. He later served as Professor of the History of Religion and Christian Missions at Princeton Theological Seminary. A prolific writer and editor, his notable works include Arabia: The Cradle of Islam, Islam: A Challenge to Faith, The Moslem Christ, The Glory of the Cross, Taking Hold of God, and The Art of Listening to God. Through his missionary service, preaching, and extensive writings, Zwemer became one of the most influential Protestant missionary figures of the twentieth century.
