Account Data Deletion

You can delete your Scroll Reader account and account-linked saved data. Deletion cannot be undone.

How to Request Data Deletion

You can request the deletion of your account and data in two ways:

  1. Through Settings: Sign in, open Settings → Account & saved items, select “Delete my account,” and confirm. The request applies only to the account you are signed into.
  2. If you cannot sign in: Use our contact form to request account and data deletion. Include the email address associated with your account, but never your password. We may need to verify account ownership before processing the request.

What Data is Deleted?

The deletion process removes your sign-in account and the following account-linked records from our active databases:

  • Your sign-in profile (name, email address, and account identifier)
  • Your synced listening history, playback progress, and listening statistics
  • Your saved bookmarks, favorites, quotes, and quote votes
  • Your synced background-music preferences
  • Your account-linked push-notification registrations

Processing and retained records

On the updated website, saved account data is removed when the server accepts your request. Sign-in and notification-service cleanup may take longer if a service is unavailable; incomplete cleanup is queued for retry. Older mobile versions may finish database cleanup after the sign-in service notifies us of deletion.

We keep a minimal deletion record to track incomplete cleanup and prevent an old session from restoring deleted account data. Raw account identifiers and notification tokens in that record are cleared when cleanup finishes. Previously created infrastructure backups and operational logs are not necessarily erased immediately; we do not promise a fixed backup-purge deadline.

Downloads, email, and support

Audio files downloaded to a browser, app, or Files folder are stored separately on that device. Remove them from Downloads or your device’s file manager. Account deletion cannot remotely erase offline copies on other devices.

Your saved quotes are removed from the community collection unless another listener independently saved the same passage. Copies you shared elsewhere are outside Scroll Reader’s control.

Newsletter subscriptions and support conversations use your email address separately from your listening account. Unsubscribe using the link in a newsletter. For help removing those records or for other privacy requests, contact support and tell us which email address you used.
