Imagine being a street preacher at a time when it was uncommon, only to find yourself locked in an asylum by another minister who deemed you insane. Such was the fate of Robert Flockhart. However, even in such adversity, God had a plan. This zealous man of God shared the Gospel of Christ within those dark walls. Then afterwards due to his history of being in a mental institute, his monthly support as a discharged soldier increased, providentially enabling him to continue his work as a street preacher with even greater freedom because of the finances.

Now, I invite you to delve into the journey of a man who transitioned from being a soldier for his government to being a soldier of the Cross of Christ. Flockhart’s transformation began when he was saved while in India. In his own words, “My situation mirrored that of the man from whom Jesus had expelled a legion of demons, found afterwards ‘clothed, and in his right mind.'” Though Flockhart wished to follow Jesus, he was instructed instead to return to his loved ones and share the great deeds the Lord had accomplished for him. In a similar spirit, he traversed the city of Edinburgh for forty-three years, spreading the gospel.
